Dan is the= =20 local 200hp IO-360 RV-7 champ, while Robert flys a Supercharged 4-cyl Subie= =20 powered RV-7.=20 Because of my current surge problem, and ongoing cooling limitations I=20 can't keep up these guys. The intention is to fly at several different airspeeds at each altitude from sea level up to maybe 15,000' and produce a table chock full of performance comparison data (specifically fuel flow data for each data point). Hopefully this will provide an honest to goodness "spreadsheet" that highlights roughly what to expect out of an RV-7 if you go with (a) or (b). Neither Robert nor I are professional test pilots, so you will have to take everything with a grain of salt, but I think this upcoming quantification will be enlightening. The other day when we flew side by side, I didn't even look at my fuel flow= , and I can't speak for Robert there either. We were just having fun. And, to be honest, I have never done a really thorough "analysis" of my own plane's performance -- to the level of detail that I hope to acquire in thi= s upcoming test.
