When I first start an engine I run it
just long enough to set the timing and then I point it down the runway, throttle
it up to 6500 rpm and takeoff, the second takeoff is usually off water at 7000
rpm and with nitrous.

Thanks for
the info. I know that Leon feels it's very useful to run-in race engines
in a street driven RX-7, so I'm sure there's some value in it. I'll do
what I can, but the plane's gonna fly by at least Sunday, if for no other reason
than to clean out that Cherokee 140 feel that I got today on my BFR. Yuck,
just violated my senses :-)
