I just got a good deal on a used RX-8 engine. I'll actually have it in a few weeks.

I have Tracy's "Big Book".

From the "Big Book" (and this discussion list) I know what needs to be done to an RX-7 engine, but I'm not quite sure what I'll need to do to the RX-8 engine. I'm also not quite sure what my range of modification options are.

I think I _need_ to;

1) put in a thermal pellet plug.
2) get injectors, build fuel rail, build a new intake manifold.
3) relocate the alternator.
4) put on underdrive pulleys.
5) fabricate an engine mount.
6) relocate the oil filter.
7) fabricate exhaust system.
8) buy the RD-1C, EC2, EM2 and everything else Tracy sells. :^)
9) RTV the tension bolts.

I'm not sure if I must:

1) tear the engine down and modify stuff internally.
2) buy Corvette coils (can I use the OEM coils?)
3) chop up the oil filler and fabricate a low-profile replacement.
4) Get an oil injection pump adapter (does the RX-8 pump already draw from a separate tank?)
5) Get a flexplate and/or counterweight from an aoutomatic.

I plan on bore-scoping the engine immediately upon arrival. If it has great compression and looks good internally, I hesitate to tear it down just for inspection. Is there anything that I _MUST_ do to the internals?

Thanks in advance,

Bill Dube'
