As Lynn said, the reason
is fatigue, because you have a moving object on the end of a hose. In the
RV world, it's generally recommended to use steel for anything below about AN8,
then aluminum is OK above that. The larger aluminum fittings are pretty
beefy. In our case, we don't have nearly the shaking of the
Lycomings, so it's even less of a problem. Do make sure the hoses
have slack, and are secured as needed along the way to eliminate as much stress
as possible on the fitting.
