Ed - as a carpenter, I used to smile when
clients tried some woodworking projects and then came back to inform me that,
hey, it isn't that easy. Anyone can be a carpenter, right? But, I
also got a lot of pleasure helping them build something with their own hands and
shared in their pride of their accomplishment. So, it is fun to see you
discover the digital world. Yes, it is typically incredibly
frustrating. That is why I chose to switch to a field where I could fix
things with a hammer! My hardest programming task was at McDonnell-Douglas
(remember them?), parametric cubic patches. Double precision, 4x4 matrix
algebra in FORTRAN, which, internally stores rows as columns and vice versa just
to add to the confusion. The inverse computations on 3x3 matrixes are
simply rows by columns, but a 4x4 includes this diagonal multiplication as well.
Arrrrrhhhh! In those days the entire F-15 geometry took a gig, which I
could easily load on my machine here at home now! Have fun
Ed!
