Thanks, Kelly

Appreciate the information.  Sounds like what I need to get rid of that ratty looking old water pump pulley.  I am still using the 86 water pump I had on my first NA 13B, so it should fit like a glove.

Ed and All,

Ok guys here is the straight skinny !! Received the "Star Racing" pulley
today (ordered Monday the 21st).......It is a beautiful piece of machine work
(obviously CNC), hard anodized in black and a perfect match for the eccentric
shaft pulley from "Racing Beat" that most of us use.......Perfect fit on the 86 to
88 13b pump with the 17 mm pilot.......will be a simple job to bore to 19 mm for
those using the 89 to 91 or Cosmo 13b and 20B pump.......Looks just like the
attached PDF........Great service from the "Star" parts dept.........They are in
business to sell parts mainly to guys that buy their race cars........They did
not ask what type of vehicle I had but it might be wise to not mention that
ours are aircraft........Off road would be a prudent answer probably so as not
to dry up a parts source.......Price was $74.32 plus UPS shipping........Contact
"Star" at the following E-mail and phone #........FWIW

(PS- I asked  about a quanity discount.....They said their markup was not
enough to allow it)

-------------- Original message from keltro@att.net (Kelly Troyer): --------------
OK Guys, If there is anyone still planning on using old fashioned "V" belts
anda mechanical waterpump listen up.......After detailed analysis (with a ruler
and calipers) I have found out that the "Star Racing" large diameter water
pump pulley is 5 inches in diameter and is designed to be used with the
reduced diameter "Racing Beat" excentric shaft pulley used by most of
us with 13B rotary (86-91) vintage.......The "Star" pulley is the largest that
can be used with the "Racing Beat" pulley and probably should be considered
a must have item for those using the RD1C, 2.85 redrive and planning on
extended running at or above 6500 rpm.......IMHO......The use of this pulley will
keep the pump well away from its cavitation rpm and reduce the power needed
to pull it at high rpm.......The "Star" pulley has a 17mm (.669in) pilot which
fits the 86-88 13B waterpump.......If you have a 89-91 13B , 13B or 20B Cosmo
pump its pilot is 19mm (.748in) which can be bored out easily......Before
everyone runs out and buys one of these let me order one and verify all
I have guessed about here........FWIW
