The hull is stretched 24 inches, the wing is moved forward 8 inches in relation to the step, the wing has been raised 5.5 inches and I kept the prop in the same location to reduce the downward thrust on the nose, also the tail is moved back 12 inches in relation to the wing and the wing span is 10 inches wider and the dihedral is dropped from 7 degrees to 5.8 and the vertical fin is 4 inches longer.
Empty weight came out 125 lbs lighter than the old one, the old one weight in at 2000 lbs empty and I would fly it at 3100 gross, the new one weighs in at 1857 empty.
Besides the better water handling the in flight is drastically better as the old one really rock and rolled in turbulence and this one just plows through them.
Cruise speed remains about the same at 100 to 110 mph but still tweaking on the engine and prop and I think I can bring the speed up a bit, landing and takeoff speed is about 10 slower and much shorter on land and water.

Great job Ken.
Just curious about the flight characteristics and how they changed from the
old to new version.  Could you give us some of the basic numbers like empty
weight, wingspan & wing area on old & new?

I'm increasing the span & weight on my RV-8 a bit and looking for clues
about what I can expect.

Tracy

A year and a month later it fly's again, been flying for three day
now and have 7 hrs on it already and it fly's and floats absolutely
 perfect.
The longer four place hull makes it slide up on the step very easy
without using the nitrous and the rough water handling is great.
