>The Wiki isn't intended to compete with
the mailing list or a forum. I know, and keeping the info in one place
is a great idea, but it's another place to check, and it's another backwater of
information. Forum's use sticky threads for the same purpose.
> The
one thing I like about the mail list is that the posts are pushed to me. I
don't have to go looking for them. That's an option in each forum user
setup.
>It would've been better to try to setup a distinct 'rotary
forum', in no way associated with the Canard forum. I agree, except that that
takes effort and $. This way is instant and free, and fly-rotary CAN exist as a
self contained sub-section. We can even formalize it as a distinct membership.
The data can be transported to another venue very easily later.
Ed says
"it does the job. I just like the manner of exchange and folks better
here." Sure, Ed. So does a Lyc. I like the folks here too. My suggestion was
that everyone move over en block, or is that just too radical for us
"experimental" types to handle? Go ahead - light the firewood. See if I care
:)
> I really feel like I've grown to know
many of the people on this list, and regard them as
friends.
Me too, and I also thank Marv for his efforts.
What's wrong with a bit of change now and
then? 20 years ago we didn't have world wide email communication. Now we do, and
it's better. Now we have forums. They're the next step forward. I couldn't
have installed a rotary without this list and I'll stick with it where-ever it
resides. It'll move eventually. Why not today?
