I'm with Al on this one.  Don't ask a fuel pump to suck through any significant restriction.  Yes, the Facet can be blown through fairly easily and it will work OK (sucking through it) 99% of the time and there are planes flying that way now.  But it is one strike against you and we don't know how many strikes count you out in this stuff.

Since several newcomers have not heard my sermon before,  there are other ways to get around the problem of returning fuel to  2 or more fuel tanks (which is the main reason cited for using a header/sump tank).   I always draw and return fuel to the left tank.  No fuel valves at all.  I pump fuel from the right tank to the left using a Facet pump which 'T's into the return line on left tank.

Tracy (still hate header/sump tanks)

Hi, Wendell....there is only one Facet pump. They are a free-flow design. You can blow through them quite easily.  I seriously doubt the Facet pump was involved in this crime.  Paul Conner

Then the fuel comes out of the fuel selector valve , downhill (through a facet low pressure boost pump that I have yet to use) to the top of the surge tank.

How are the Facet pumps connected? Could they have restricted flow enough to cause a bubble in the sump tank and stop flow into it?
Wendell
