Rusty - I read where some guys
manage to mount their fuel pumps in the gap between the wing tank and the
fuselage. Personally I hated doing anything in that small gap, but others
seem bent on not having fuel connections inside. My -6A has 800 hrs on it
now with the pump mounted on the floor behind the battery, along with two glass
fuel filters and a fuel flow metering device.(no gascolator) The filters
and fuel flow are plumbed with rubber tubing and those spring clips, since that
is the type of fittings they came with. Since they are all on the suction
side of things I have rationalized that it is OK. The pressurized side is
all AN flange fittings. I put in a fuel return line, but have never needed
it. Perhaps if I flew in AZ in the summer more often.
