I guess which is the “front” of the engine is a relative term.  I conclude it primarily supports the flywheel end. It appears structurally very sound, but I wonder why there are struts along the engine bulkhead between the support points.  Those would only be needed if the bulkhead (or structure between the attach points) was not structurally sound.

That structure is part of the Tailwind landing gear mount. RV tail dragger is the same. Jerry
