In the third gen RX-7 and definitely in the RX-8, the oil is injected only
into the rotorhousing.  I believe this is the case on David Atkins'
installation.
I have been so happy with the wear (or lack of) when using pre-mix that I
will continue to use it.  The only measurable wear on my 856 hr. engine was
on the apex seals (very little) and *no* measurable wear anywhere else.  The
step wear on the side housings was exactly the same depth as when I put the
engine  together.  I did not have the sidehousings ground flat before
assembling.
