Greetings
again,
Keep your fingers crossed,
I actually faxed my custom radiator request over to Howe Racing today.
When they get done laughing, I'll be expecting their call. They only have
2.25" cores, so the frontal area will be bigger than I originally hoped.
What I ordered is a vertical flow, with an 18.25 X 24.4 core, which
give a volume of 1000 cubic inches. It has a 12 inch oil cooler in the
inlet tank, and a 10 inch oil cooler in the outlet tank (couldn't fit a
12"). I specified two 1/2" NPT returns for water heater, and a
1/2" NPT vent & drain that can double as water temp
sender holes. The main inlet and outlet are AN16, and the oil in/outs
are all AN12. I sure hope they can build it as specified, because I
am soooooooo sick of thinking about this.
Now for the
trivia- When thinking about volume area of these radiators, I decided
to measure the factory, and Fluidyne radiators for my 93 RX-7.
The core is 25 X 12.5, with the factory being 15/16" thick, and the
Fluidyne being 1-5/8" thick. That gives us a volume of
293 cu in for stock, and 508 cu in for aftermarket. Keep in mind
that the inlet design of the RX-7 is as bad as my RV-3, and the stock engine
makes 255 HP. Of course it doesn't do it for long, or you're in
jail, so it's tough to really stress the cooling system on the street.
With all the right mods, these are some of the fastest cars on the street.
Zoom, Zoom :-)
