Bill,
I guess I missed your previous post. I don't want to omit all pictures, there are just certain topics, turbo's for example, that I am not interested in. I cannot select the ones I want to download because I have no idea what is being downloaded by my computer until it is completed. I get approx. 50-60 emails a day. If 10 of them contain pictures I go eat dinner while waiting for the download to complete. This problem is enhanced when topics are changed but the subject line is not, a problem that has already been pointed out.
The separate site for pictures on the biplane site works very well as all the pictures are archived from the last 3 years and are available whenever we want to review them. I just thought I would mention it as we seemed to be discussing ways to make this site more user friendly.

You don't have to download ANY pictures if you don't want to. See my previous post.

I am one that is land line dependent and have my computer tied up for 20-30 minutes down loading pictures. I belong to a biplane builders group that has a separate site just for pictures. We just inform the group they are available and we can pick and choose what we want to see and when. Might be a good idea here as there seems to be lots of pictures/charts/diagrams etc.

All,
My Vote:
• New message at the top - avoids a ton of scrolling around to read the relevant information.
• Trim old messages to just the salient point answered.
• Change the subject to match the new thread.

The suggestion is to answer all threads at the END of the mail and not at the beginning like most e-mail programs will set you up to do. If it is a long thread, like the present EWP one, it gets quite old to scroll forth and back and stay sync with the order of answers given!:(
Actually, our favorite list provider (Marvin) has a pet peeve too. He has asked on many occasions that we NOT continue to quote old messages. He would like us to only quote a relevant piece of the message. Since he archives this stuff for us, it would save a bunch of disc space. Sometimes when I see multiple messages quoted within a single message, I just imagine Marvin beating his head against the keyboard :-)
I personally like colors (as you may have noticed), because it makes it easy to see the new text.
As for the subject abuse, that's been mentioned before. I don't really recall anyone violating that today. It's hard for me to imagine having to live with only dial-up these days. If it were my only option, I'd spend the food budget on semi-high speed from DirecTV for $99/mo. Just too dependent on internet.
Cheers,
Rusty (typing slowly for Bernie's dial-up <g>)
