Drag the picture icon for the item you want to reduce, onto the MS Paint
icon. Paint will open just about anything. The picture will open but will be much
bigger than the screen.
If you don't have an icon for paint on your desktop, click on start at lower
left toolbar.
From the menu select programs. Then select accessories, then Right click on
the paint icon and a from the drop down menu select send to ( desktop as a
shortcut)
Now you will have a shortcut icon for paint on your desktop.
Click on image on the paint tool bar. From the drop down menu click on
Stretch/Skew. The window will have the vertical and horizontal windows and
each will say 100%. In both windows, change that number to, say, 40, and click
on OK.. The picture will get much smaller. Do this again until the picture fits
on the paint screen in height and width, with a little blank space around the
sides.
Click on file, and from the drop down menu select "save as"
For where, I use desktop. For file name, leave the name and add web to the
end of it. Otherwise you end up with two icons of the same name. The lower
window is for what type of file, and you pick JPG. Click save.
Now on the desktop there is a JPG icon for your picture, with a name ending
in web, and it will be under 50 KB.
Make this icon an attachment for your Email.
Right click on the desktop and from the drop down menu select folder. A
folder icon named new folder will appear on the desktop. Once you have sent the
picture as Email, drag the web picture icon onto the new folder and drop it in.
Right click on the folder icon and select rename from the list. Just type
Sentpics, or whatever. Now you have a folder full of the smaller pics for the web.
