BTW, the regulator sold by Atkins does not adjust for manifold pressure
and therefore is sub optimal to use with Tracy's EC2. (his map is set up
to use the stock regulator which does adjust for manifold pressure). I
am hoping that I will be able to adjust the map to make it work. I am
going to have to do some map adjustment anyway because my injector pairs
are not exactly matched.
Hi, David. Thank you very much for the response. It is beginning to
become clear in my mind now. I purchased the whole $2700.00 system from Dave
Atkins, so I also received the EFI system that also adjusts for altitude and
manifold pressure. I can also program it in flight without a lap-top
computer. What I DID like about his system was that it's nearly a bolt-on
system. The wiring harness is pre-wired with injector plugs, etc. The coils
are pre-wired, the fuel rail and injectors were already on the throttle
body, and the throttle body was already mounted on the intake manifold. Did
I mention that I like SIMPLE ? It also came with several other items that I
have not closely examined yet, such as water temp probe, air sensor,
throttle position sensor, (already provided for in the wiring harness), fuel
pump, coils, spark plugs, crank angle sensor, etc, etc. The manual for the
EFI also appears to be complete and extensive. It comes already programmed
to run on a Mazda 13B, and has a limp home mode as well. You can also, of
course fine tune the system in flight. I hope it works. I should know in a
few months. Take care, and thanks again for educating me on the workings of
an EFI system. I only know carburetors. This is my first encounter with fuel
injection. Thanks for having patience with this layman. Paul Conner
